History
CornerCap Investment Counsel is a privately owned firm focused on providing superior guidance and tailored portfolio management service to high-net-worth individuals, group retirement plans, foundations, endowments, and other select clients. The firm currently manages more than $600 million in client assets.
The firm has its roots in institutional asset management. Prior to founding CornerCap in 1989, Tom Quinn and Gene Hoots managed the $4 billion pension fund of RJR Nabisco in the mid-1970s and 1980s, as Chief Investment Officer and President, respectively.
During that period, Tom and Gene reviewed the leading money managers and investment styles. This due diligence and their knowledge of the market dynamics enabled Tom and Gene to develop their own proprietary investment process and to formalize a unique operating platform, culminating in our Fundametrics® system.
Since 1989, CornerCap has continued to emphasize its proprietary methodologies and investment research capabilities by providing institutional quality research to an array of private clients and foundations worldwide. From its offices in Atlanta and Charlotte, CornerCap has grown to serve several hundred high-net-worth families and institutional clients, while retaining its boutique approach.
