Why did you choose to join CornerCap?

CornerCap has a reputation in the investment community as an amazing place to work, so I first heard buzz about the firm from industry peers.  As a smaller firm, I knew I could also make an impact here. I’ve chosen to stay at CornerCap for 10 years because of the care and integrity we have for our clients, colleagues, family and friends.

How do you encourage clients to frame their financial picture?

Since I get to work with clients directly every day on the minute details of their account administration, I encourage them to remember that paying attention to the details of their financial life can impact their overall financial picture.  That can mean remembering to take year-end action that can impact taxes, withdrawing required minimum distributions on time or gifting money to a family member in a tax-advantaged way.

What inspired you to help people manage their wealth?

At CornerCap, we focus on doing for clients what we’d want done for our own financial peace of mind. That’s exactly what inspired me to pursue this line of work; I wanted peace of mind about my family’s own financial future. Helping others feel confident in their future while continuing to do what they love is very rewarding.

How do you spend your time outside of the office?

Outside the office, I most enjoy spending time with my husband and two boys.  We love doing anything outdoors like biking, nature trails and Disney!

If someone gave you a million dollars to start your own charity, what cause would you focus on?

Cancer has impacted me personally as well as my family and many friends.  So much is unknown about the causes of cancer so if I were given a million dollars, I would focus on research that expedites a cure.
