Why did you choose to join CornerCap?

For several decades, I ran my own wealth advisor business.  As my retirement approached, it was of utmost importance to find a new home for not only my clients but also my own team members.  While many other advisors offered to buy my firm, the only one I felt comfortable entrusting my clients and employees to was CornerCap.  The firm has an outstanding reputation for prioritizing client service, and its employees have long tenures with the firm – which both signaled that it would be a smooth transition for my own clients.

How do you encourage clients to frame their financial picture?

Because I’ve spent decades studying and providing financial planning and investment management, I’m able to provide a nuanced agenda that walks clients through the process of framing their picture.  Because it’s not their day to day expertise, many clients neglect to consider scenarios and factors that significantly impact their financial future.  By walking them through a detailed series of questions and eliciting as much information as possible about what their future may hold, I’m able to calculate specific scenarios for them to project what their wealth accumulation journey could look like.  From there, we can partner on the plan that not only brings their picture into focus, but also keeps them on the right path to make the vision a reality.

What inspired you to help people manage their wealth?

Being able to teach clients about the investing process is incredibly rewarding.  It’s a topic I never tire of talking about, and it’s especially gratifying to see clients take control of their investable assets and grow their wealth over time to benefit their own lives and those of their families.

How do you spend your time outside of the office?

Reading, exercising, cooking, writing and, lately, gardening at my new home.

If someone gave you a million dollars to start your own charity, what cause would you focus on?

I’d use the money to help guide young people to become productive members of society through personal skill development.
