Client Experience Coordinator
As a next generation talent at CornerCap, Philip brings fresh perspective to how we serve Gen Z clients – whether they are independently starting their financial journey, or their parents are working with CornerCap to enhance their children’s financial education . Because he walks in the shoes of the Z client, he’s uniquely positioned to oversee the CornerCap wealth accumulation experience designed specifically for HENRYs (High Earners Not Rich Yet). Philip bridges his client service into Gens X and Y, as well, since he supports a variety of financial planning needs for clients in those age ranges in collaboration with our team of Wealth Advisors. In his spare time, Philip leverages his professional skills to give back to the community by donating his time to students and disadvantaged families in need of help with their taxes, a passion for helping and problem solving that comes through in his interactions with CornerCap clients.

Why did you choose to join CornerCap?
The connection I felt with the staff is one of the biggest reasons I chose to join CornerCap. The kindness and helpfulness every team member in our early conversations showed this was truly a place that had the same passion as I do for service and planning.
How do you encourage clients to frame their financial picture?
I believe clients should frame their financial picture by focusing on their life goals and not comparing their goals to others around them. It is important for clients to understand that no two financial pictures are the same; everyone’s picture is unique to them. We often think we should have the same success as others, but that is not the case. Trying to compare where others are in their financial journey can hinder the progress you have made in your own journey. I believe the best chance at reaching your goals is staying true to your plan and focusing on what you have and will achieve.
What inspired you to help people manage their wealth?
Since I was a child, I have always managed my own money, whether it was saving up for a videogame or simply creating a budget. I also volunteered a lot in my community growing up and because of that I love helping people. Being in an industry such as this one allows me to give back in a way that will benefit others long term.
What’s your favorite quote, and how did it shape your thinking?
My favorite quote is “A goal without a plan is just a wish” by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. To me, this quote emphasizes why planning is so important not just with our finances, but in life as well. Whatever goals we set for ourselves in life, we must have a plan to achieve those goals. Without a plan, you will not know how to reach your goal.
If someone gave you a million dollars to start your own charity, what cause would you focus on?
I would focus on feeding the homeless and the disadvantaged, because there are so many people out there who are going hungry nightly. One way I would do so is by creating a service that would go around to the different restaurants at closing time, and pickup any food that would have been otherwise thrown away because it was not served that day.
